Avocado and banana mash
- Age: 6–8 months (First tastes)
- Texture: Mash
- Prep: 3 min
- Cook: 0 min
- Makes: 2 portions
Ingredients
- 1/2 ripe avocado
- 1/2 small ripe banana
Contains: None of the common allergens
Method
- Scoop out the avocado and peel the banana.
- Mash the two together with a fork until there are no lumps left.
- Serve straight away — this one needs no cooking at all.
Safety: Ripe means soft enough to mash with no resistance. An underripe avocado stays in firm pieces and is the wrong texture for a new eater.
Storage: Best fresh. It browns within the hour, which is harmless but off-putting.
Tip: A first purée with no cooking and no equipment. Good for the day you have nothing prepared.
