Apple purée with a pinch of cinnamon
- Age: 6–8 months (First tastes)
- Texture: Purée
- Prep: 5 min
- Cook: 10 min
- Makes: 4 portions
Ingredients
- 2 sweet eating apples
- 1 tiny pinch ground cinnamon
- 2 tbsp water
Contains: None of the common allergens
Method
- Peel, core and chop the apples.
- Simmer with the water and cinnamon in a covered pan for 8–10 minutes until falling apart.
- Blend smooth or mash with a fork.
- Cool to lukewarm.
Safety: Raw apple is one of the most common choking foods in babies — hard and it snaps into chunks. Under twelve months, apple is cooked soft or finely grated, never in raw pieces.
Storage: Fridge 3 days, freezer 1 month.
Tip: A sweet eating apple needs no sugar. Cooking apples do, which is why the recipe does not use them.
