First egg: mashed yolk
- Age: 6–8 months (First tastes)
- Texture: Purée
- Prep: 2 min
- Cook: 10 min
- Makes: 1 introduction
Ingredients
- 1 egg
- 1–2 tbsp your baby's usual milk
Contains: Egg
Method
- Hard-boil the egg: 10 minutes from boiling, then into cold water.
- Peel, separate, and mash the yolk with the milk into a smooth paste. Keep the white for the second time.
- Offer a small amount on a spoon, in the morning, and wait a few minutes before offering more.
Safety: Cooked right through. No soft-boiled, no runny centre, for a baby.
Storage: Serve fresh.
Tip: Yolk first, then the whole egg — the white is where most of the allergenic protein is, so the second offer is the one to watch a little more closely.
