Pea purée
- Age: 6–8 months (First tastes)
- Texture: Purée
- Prep: 2 min
- Cook: 4 min
- Makes: 3 portions
Ingredients
- 100 g frozen peas
- 2–3 tbsp your baby's usual milk or water
Contains: None of the common allergens
Method
- Boil or steam the peas 3–4 minutes.
- Blend with the milk until as smooth as you can get it — pea skins resist, so give it longer than you think.
- Push through a sieve for the very first tastes if it is still grainy.
- Cool to lukewarm.
Safety: Whole peas are a small round shape. For this stage they are always blended; whole peas come later, squashed.
Storage: Fridge 2 days, freezer 1 month.
Tip: Bright green, sweet, and a first taste of something that is not orange. Frozen peas are picked and frozen within hours and are as good as fresh.
