Family fish pie
- Age: 18–24 months (Toddler meals)
- Texture: Family meal
- Prep: 15 min
- Cook: 45 min
- Makes: 2 adults and 2 children
Ingredients
- 400 g skinless white fish and salmon, mixed
- 4 potatoes
- 300 ml milk
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp plain flour
- 4 tbsp peas
- 2 tbsp grated cheese
Contains: Fish, Milk, Wheat
Method
- Poach the fish in the milk 6 minutes; lift out and flake, checking twice for bones. Keep the milk.
- Make a white sauce with the butter, flour and the milk; fold in the fish and peas.
- Top with mashed potato and cheese; bake at 200 °C for 25 minutes. Cool your child's portion; salt the adults'.
Safety: Bones by hand, twice. Cool before serving — the inside stays hot much longer than the outside. Serve your child's portion first, then salt the rest for the adults. Under three, the daily limit is about 2 g of salt in total.
Storage: Fridge 2 days, freezer 1 month.
Tip: Two fish in one pie — oily and white — under a lid of mash. The dish that makes fish-eaters.
