Potato and kale mash

Potato and kale mash

Ingredients

  • 1 small potato
  • a handful kale, stalks removed
  • 1 tsp olive oil
  • 1–2 tbsp your baby's usual milk

Contains: None of the common allergens

Method

  1. Peel, dice and steam the potato 12 minutes; add the kale for the last 4.
  2. Chop the kale fine, then mash everything with the oil and milk.
  3. Cool to lukewarm.
Safety: Strip the kale off its stalks; the stalks stay stringy however long you cook them.
Storage: Fridge 2 days.
Tip: Kale is tougher than spinach, which is why it is chopped fine here. Once a baby knows the taste, it turns up in fritters and muffins later on.
