Spinach and potato mash
- Age: 8–10 months (New textures)
- Texture: Mash
- Prep: 5 min
- Cook: 12 min
- Makes: 2 portions
Ingredients
- 1 small potato
- a large handful baby spinach
- 1 tsp olive oil
- 1 tbsp your baby's usual milk
Contains: None of the common allergens
Method
- Peel, cube and steam the potato 12 minutes.
- Add the spinach for the last minute until wilted.
- Mash together with the oil and milk. Cool to lukewarm.
Safety: Spinach is best made fresh and not reheated for babies.
Storage: Fridge 1 day.
Tip: Spinach cooked into potato is the mildest route into dark greens. The iron in spinach is absorbed better with a little vitamin C — a spoon of fruit purée alongside helps.
