Meatballs in tomato sauce
- Age: 12–18 months (Family food)
- Texture: Family meal
- Prep: 12 min
- Cook: 25 min
- Makes: 2 adults and 2 children
Ingredients
- 300 g beef mince
- 1 egg
- 4 tbsp breadcrumbs
- 1 onion, grated
- 400 g passata, no added salt
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 200 g spaghetti
Contains: Egg, Wheat
Method
- Mix the mince, egg, breadcrumbs and onion; roll into small balls and flatten your child's into discs.
- Brown in the oil, add the passata, and simmer 20 minutes until cooked through.
- Serve with spaghetti chopped short for your child; salt the adults' portions.
Safety: A round meatball is a choking shape: your child's are flattened and halved. Cooked right through, with no pink. Serve your child's portion first, then salt the rest for the adults.
Storage: Fridge 2 days, freezer 2 months.
Tip: Roll the adults' round and press the child's flat — same mixture, two shapes.
