Soft beef and vegetable pieces
- Age: 10–12 months (Self-feeding)
- Texture: Finger food
- Prep: 8 min
- Cook: 80 min
- Makes: 3 portions
Ingredients
- 100 g stewing beef, diced small
- 1 carrot, in batons
- 1 potato, in chunks
- 250 ml unsalted stock
- 1 bay leaf
Contains: None of the common allergens
Method
- Simmer the beef in the stock with the bay leaf, covered, 1 hour until it falls apart.
- Add the carrot and potato for the last 20 minutes.
- Remove the bay leaf. Shred the beef with two forks and serve the pieces to be picked up. Cool.
Safety: Fish out the bay leaf. Beef shredded, not in chunks. Cool fully before handing over — the inside stays hot much longer than the outside.
Storage: Fridge 2 days, freezer 1 month.
Tip: Beef cooked long enough shreds into soft strands a baby can pick up and gum. Undercooked beef is chewy and gets spat out.
