Salmon and pea mash
- Age: 8–10 months (New textures)
- Texture: Mash
- Prep: 5 min
- Cook: 10 min
- Makes: 2 portions
Ingredients
- 60 g skinless salmon fillet
- 4 tbsp frozen peas
- 1 tsp unsalted butter
- 1 tbsp your baby's usual milk
Contains: Fish, Milk
Method
- Steam the salmon 8–10 minutes, until it flakes apart with no translucent centre.
- Add the peas for the last 3 minutes.
- Flake the salmon into a bowl and go through it carefully with your fingers for bones, twice.
- Mash with the peas, butter and milk, leaving a few soft lumps — at this age lumps are the point.
- Cool to lukewarm.
Safety: Check for bones by hand, not by eye, and do it twice.
Storage: Fridge 1 day. Do not refreeze fish that was frozen raw.
Tip: Oily fish twice a week is the standing recommendation, and salmon is the easiest one to get a baby to accept.
